Hey guys, so I’ve finally graduated..about two months ago, and life after university, is pretty bitter sweet. There are various paths to take, and I’ve came to terms that I like guys that act like 15 years old at amusement parks 24/7? Ha…kidding..sort of… Well, I am trying to get back into the groove of posting, but life has happened, inevitably. Am here to intro you to FRIENDS..which are playing next Saturday here in Brooklyn at Glasslands Gallery. I am in love with the visual treatment of this music vid for “Friend Crush” ahhh summmmerrrrr. I’ll be back!! And..hopefully have some more posts on food recipes..yeah foodie galore, bruv, me.

KRYLON

Much love to Tijuana, my lovely Mexico. Here we bring a mix done by Kry-Lon two young 18 year old producers that at their age, have already played in large scale crowds, by the thousands, electric daisy festival anyone? Now two years producing and djing, it is no surprise they are starting now their own label, Vicario Records. Also on the way is their Los Lobos EP being released under Dubnoir UK.

Panda Bear - Surfer's Hymn (Actress Primitive Pattern Remix)

Panda Bear has made the build-up for Tomboy ridiculously long, but now we are almost there (and trust me, it’s worth waiting for). To give you the final hors d’oeuvre, Kompakt is now putting out a single for Surfer’s Hymn, which comes neatly packaged with a remix from Actress, in case a new Panda Bear track wasn’t enough of an attraction.

Like on his collaboration with Pantha du Prince last year, Panda Bear transitions smoothly from the sunny Beach Boys vibes to the darker, more clubby mood. This time, however, things get slightly messier, slightly more introverted and a lot harder to wrap your head around. Although Noah Lennox seems to be the kind of guy who takes pride in layering a handful of samples on top of each other while still shaping a coherent whole, Actress just one-upped him at his own game. The pattern may be primitive, but the texture definitely isn’t.

If you have not already secured your copy of the 7″ (which drops March 28th), you will probably have a hard time finding one. For now, you will have to rely on Kompakt’s kindness on Soundcloud:

It sounds like Seattle is the haven place for anyone who desires glo-fi tinted muses in the sun. Last year Beat Connection announced themselves to the world with their ‘Surf Noir’ eight track EP- a dream pop marathon comparable to the likes of Teen Daze and Delorean. With an album coming out later this year and a string of impressive tour dates over the next few months (SXSW tomorrow, a US tour in April, and a UK tour in May), Reed Juenger and Jordan Koplowitz look set to be an integral part of our summer. For now the guys are dealing franco with the second installment of the Funkism mix series. A real disco, ‘yeah you can still be happy in this world’ edition. It certainly won’t make you forget about Japan, or Nate Dogg, but it could at least make your journey seem like a Tropicana ad for good fifty minutes. Enjoy.

Surf Noir is out April 11th on Tender Age.
