got to make a booty call
whether it's girl/boy troubles, changes to plans or some other kind of niggle, there's always a point where you end up with too much on your mind that it's hard to cope. although i think i've found my solution to this- jogging. in a bid to detox all the rubbish i've taken in over the past year, i thought it would be a good idea to start running and it really does give you the time to think. sometimes i think too much. perhaps i'll drift off in to a scrubs-esque land where i replay episodes in my head, maybe air-band when nobody is watching, and other times i might remember back to when i was little. yesterday i thought, i wish i was one of those people who chose the music for adverts. i imagined djedjotronic's remix of major lazer as the song to advertise those inspectors who investigate if your partner is having an affair or not. i think i'd do a pretty good job to be honest. incidentally, this remix doesn't have to be the soundtrack to infidelity hunters, it's more of a sunsetter. you, the colourful backdrop, and next door's naughty housewife who's had it away with her gardener. i'm sure you get the picture.

hands off my cash, monty
Rock, Pop, Indie, Electronica with some synth action and an Apple laptop as their drummer gives, Two Door Cinema Club an alternative pop genre name tag, that doesn’t really work?!

A lot of you are starting to hear more and more about this Northern Ireland band, mainly because of their song ‘Something Good Can Work’ is the first song you heard from the Kitsune 7 compilation (stunning). When I first heard them back in 2006, their song 'Life without Rory' oozed potential, especially from such a young group of lads. Potential they have since embraced, transforming into one of the most talked about bands in Ireland. They are now in the position for the rest of the world to hear their delectable summer electro pop.

The ball got rolling for Two Door Cinema Club when they uploaded their first two demos onto their myspace. Without even playing a gig previous, the Irish trio seen their calendar soon fill, with promoters trying to get on the Two Door Cinema Club wagon. Thankfully, the mums and dads of the three boys allowed them to head out on a school night.

Admittedly, they worked hard to polish off their songs to what they thought was right and have not rushed into releases. However, Two Door Cinema Club makes sure this perfection isn’t seen on stage but create an energetic live show with lots of jumping, smiles and interaction with the crowd.

So with exams and school over with these lads have already started focusing on being a band full time, not worrying about their exams results when they come at the end of the summer. At the minute, the sky is the limit!

MJ was my lonely nights
I could go on for hours, telling the world that he never was what they said he were. But I wont this time. As Marky said earlier today, everyone has the right to have their own opinion.

However, my love for MJ's music will always be as strong as it always has been. I have danced far to many nights to Billie Jean to forget my king. I could have died lucky if I just would have seen just a glimpse of him once in my life. No can do, instead: a mix made by my dear friend, in the middle of the night, after maybe to many bottles of Estrella.

Forever in my heart, Michael Jackson.

don't trust me
back in the olden days when people were just realising who the teenagers were, when diesel awarded duke dumont best remixer and there was that small group called ed banger appearing on everybody's tracklists, i remember acid girls actually had a blog. in fact i also remember that i used to think acid girls (new single out now on kitsune) were a scantily clad LSD fuelled female duo who went round causing chaos on the streets of berlin. sadly not, you've got the much more stable greg and jamie behind the brains of their forward thinking electronic music. it's possible that you'll remember them from their excellent appaloosa and mini viva remixes? their take on the colorado based duo, 3OH!3, is on the cusp of dark progression but still with a hefty enough bite that you're kept hooked for the full 6:43mins. and i guess i'm sorry not sorry for posting another hostage track even though marky wrote about him yesterday, but seriously, his remix of "don't trust me" needs a sturdy leash.

trademark bassline..ing?
When I see an artist I want their live set to express what they feel their own production portray. Over the past year, I have kept a lazy eye over the ongoing productions by Skullduggery. When I first heard their live sets at nights like Fresh Till Death (just like the cool Hip Hop kids say) and Wonk I was excited to go home and see what their productions are like. Thinking they would refuel me with dance energy and give me flashbacks from the great night out.

But of course with all artists, making music is a journey and it takes time to find that sound. A journey that will see you make many trail and errors with people giving you tips on route. I am glad I have found Skullduggery at such an early start to their journey. Their latest track ‘Phish Tasco’ shows they are already advancing leaps and bounds. Just like all their other songs, you are going to hear a distinctive bassline throughout the track, something I hope will never leave them and keep it as their trademark.

I expect this time next year maybe their first EP will have hit us and that they have massed together a back catalogue of their own tracks. And maybe Mr. Bishop drunken Irish racism will have calmed down by then, I can’t promise it though.

looking for the soundboy
Some friends have left me this summer to work in New York, another friend leaves me this week to start his placement in Dublin. Already the situation is not setting up for the best summer. The fact I am yet to sort myself with a job (not that I have been looking very hard) leaves me with a few spare buttons in my left pocket and a yo-yo in my right. As a result, I have a lot of free time on my hands and I often find myself looking at what the people on my twitter are getting up to. Cue the beat-making machine Hostage. Alan Hostage often posts links of his newly mastered tracks up on his twitter, in 320 kbps goodness, the latest track that has been laid down = Soundboy.

From first listen it sounds like Alan Hostage has a window in his studio where he can look out. Turning them summer vibes in to a track. Simple idea yet effective, if you too are getting all this sun at the moment you get the idea. Hostage hits use with a track with sun, sea, sand and frisbees. Do not be dropping your ice cream when we hear that twist at 2 minutes now.

Whats everyones plan for the summer then? I'm thinking Paris or else Amsterdam for a weekend?

hey you what's that sound
i feel like christmas has come early and i'm dressed as santa claus with this one. well minus the beard, costume and weight. then perhaps without the reindeers, decorations and the naughty little grinch who sneaks around when everybody is asleep stealing your presents. i think that's a given, but my point is i'm over the moon that i'm able to share this with you all. this time our canadian friends, NROTB, have taken their huge club sound and applied it to the new single by pony pony run run, a french power pop band signed to the lovely 3ème bureau music label which previously provided a temporary home for crookers. their signature track "hey you" i know has already been embedded into many summer playlists but you know that's all very well for the days, so what about for the nights? that's why i seriously recommend you download this remix by NROTB as it's the perfect answer. even moreso now that the label loves it.

interview with ellie goulding
There's one thing you should know about the Funkism house, alongside our James Brown shrine we have one for the lovely Ellie Goulding where we worship her quavery voice. Statues, photos, love letters, the lot. Though we have every reason to be showing such affection because, albeit the female singer-songwriter market is largely saturated, Ellie has dug herself a trench and looks to be the only girl out there with the longevity to secure your hearts year after year. Her style is intriguing with a sound akin to a blend of folk, electronic, pop and dubstep- how does that work I hear you say? Well deceivingly it's a formula to her magic. Fortunately I was able to get the chance to interview Ellie Goulding a couple of weeks back and we talked about 70s afro porn, musical chairs and superhero powers. Below is a selection of her tracks that you can listen to before, during or after the interview so you can decide for yourself. You'll have to thank our Neon Gold Records and Discodust friends respectively for shedding the light on these. Please show your support for Ellie on her myspace.

Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed
Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed (Jakwob Remix)
Ellie Goulding - Guns And Horses
Ellie Goulding - Wish I Stayed feat. Frankmusik
Ellie Goulding - The Wolves (Bon Iver Cover)

Pablo, Funkism: Ellie Goulding, what's the dream? Does it involve a time-machine? 70s afro porn? A strategically placed vase?

Ellie Goulding: How on earth did you know that? You hit the proverbial nail right on the head with 70's afro porn. Sounds like a dream I need to have. Seriously.

Pablo: Seriously, yes! So as a female singer-songwriter, what do you think differentiates yourself from the others?

Ellie: Ah not much. We're all the same you see. I can't really answer that without sounding a bit narcissistic. I'm not especially desperate to be a glorified pop star... maybe that helps? I dunno. I do know that a lot of female singers I've encountered have a lot of other musicians from the past/present to look up to, I don't have any, I'm sort of ashamed to say. I go at it blind.

Pablo: Can you tell me the secret of how you manage to delve into folk, electronic and dubstep music seamlessly?

Ellie: My songs naturally sound folky because I start them on guitar. Then I work with people who are good at electro and refuse to take the guitar off it and it kind of works. Most of the time.

Pablo: I have to ask but would you ever consider doing a disco track? I can imagine big vocals, bright colours and lots of naked carefree dancing.

Ellie: Probably. Would I get to be naked in the video? I would do it so long as I it wasn't too cheesy. I'd love to cover "Midas touch" by Midnight star. Boards of Canada do an amazing remix. I would dance the fucking night away to that.

Pablo: You know I may just have to hold you to that one day. Who would win in a game of musical chairs between yourself, Starsmith, Goldsmith, Basement Jaxx and Frankmusik? Cheating definitely allowed.

Ellie: Well Goldsmith is me and Starsmith (Starsmith- Goulding, Get it?) So definitely Goldsmith. And no cheating.

Pablo: It's been whispered to me that you might be doing some recording with the now not so anonymous Burial. Is this true? Or has somebody been telling me porkies?

Ellie: Haha. Porkies. We are good friends, that's all really.

Pablo: So what makes your day? You know when you're down and this certain something just makes you smile no matter what.

Ellie: Nice strangers. People who do things just from the kindness of their heart. Sounds like a cliché but it seems to be rare in London, and when it actually happens I can't help but smile and smile. Or seeing it happen to other people. People are afraid of doing something out of the ordinary because they're afraid of humiliation. But I think its very admirable. Collective senses of humour on the tube is funny too, like when someone trips up on the train or does something fucking random and everyone just looks at each other and sniggers. Nice sense of human, collective understanding and behaviour. That makes me smile.

Pablo: So if I tripped someone up on the train, would you be persuaded in telling us what the future has in store for Ellie Goulding? I tried building a time machine but the crystals melted in my pocket.

Ellie: Flattery gets you everywhere, that's all I can say about that. The future? Who knows. I barely know what I'm doing tomorrow, let alone in a few years. Same goes for the past. I think I smoked a bit too much weed when I was fifteen because I have serious short term memory-loss.

Pablo: You're a superhero. You're wearing some tight pants and have a purple cape, possibly some animal sidekicks, but there's this girl called Josephine who's struggling to find new music. How do you save her?

Ellie: I have no idea. I only listen to Bon Iver really. Alternatively she could try going to gigs... remember those? LIVE music? I think they involve instruments and people singing!

Pablo: Who would be your evil arch enemy? A big scary nemesis out to get you or a metaphorical flaw?

Ellie: My arch enemy is almost certainly a metaphorical flaw. Self- doubt. It prods me quite often and at times starts to thump me and I just sort of have to prod and thump back, and I need people to help me too (i.e fans). Loneliness helps me write a lot of my songs but I have a feeling it is sleeping with the enemy.

Pablo: And what would your special powers be?

Ellie: HOPE!

I have to thank Ellie Goulding for taking the time out to do this interview with me and even though she's unsigned so far, it's not going to be too long before she's going to explode onto everybody's itunes. If she's good enough for Neon Gold Records, it's certainly a sign for good things to come.

Are we all in an agreement that an artist/ band should never have two albums that sound the same? Since Clark's release, Throttle Furniture in 2006 on Warp Records he has been seen to refine his sound in a way that is much more driven towards pop music with Clark’s latest album Totems Flare. Clearly we have a man in agreement! It has been eight years that has seen five albums and few EP releases thrown in for good measure but with Totem Flare (due to be released on 13th July) we shall have the battle ground for an elegant meeting of past and present sounds.

When I say past sounds, I am talking about is tracks that were filled with IDM baroque melodics. Even further, back an album would see Clark driven towards techno and hard dance music. Now that I have heard Clark's present sound, I am going to tell you it is more driven to pop, but not what the Pop in the top 40 charts across the word. Pop music is seen as Popular Music, but with the influences that were used we shall call the outcome of this Clark Pop!

A new album that sees Clark finally getting there, already know to be technically gifted he was not quite down melodically. Bring in his pal Bibio to help sort him out and we may just have one of the albums of the year. The track has such a smooth BUT big BUT gentle drop at 2.10, oh my!

hold the line
one of the number 1 best selling dubstep artists on beatport last year was DZ and he makes me wish i was a badman. he makes me wish i wouldn't shave for a week, turn up to the club with a backpack full of my favourite cds and play some dirty beats until everybody's so tired that they collapse. although i'm not that mean generous so you'll have to make do with these tracks instead. i have to say that major lazer's conceptual journey through the life of a zombie assassin is turning out to be one of the funnest albums so far with it being on repeat since may and albeit there are numerous remixes out there already, DZ's take flies heads above the rest. you know he's been getting quite a bit of support from hervé and jack beats so don't forget to check out his jokers of the scene ravestep remix as well, which i'm guessing is his attempt to bring the fluo and the wobbles together. what a badman.

we own the sky
i'm in love with things that work when they really shouldn't do. like, if you go to the beach and it starts to rain yet you still have a great time. perhaps you try something you hate which turns out to be something you like or maybe those films where they are so bad that they ultimately become the funniest you've seen in a long time. them sort of things. so really an udachi dubstep remix of an m83 brain child shouldn't work in the slightest. but it does. you may recognise udachi from his work with tommie sunshine and ac slater but you need not worry if you don't because this should get you into his cross atlantic wobbles. incidently you should definitely check out his original track "jellyroll" which i know has leaked but i'm not sure on the permission, maybe i'll ask him some time and try and share it with you guys. m83 has always been a sure fire favourite with me and his album last year was a masterpiece yet again. udachi picks one of anthony gonzales' creations and reworks it into a more club friendly slow burner which should be enjoyed with a bottle of corona.

this actually wasn't due to be shared but after the overwhelming good reaction towards it, udachi did a remaster of the edit with bigger drums and bass in addition to some finishing touches. definitely an excuse to request m83 now.

koumpounophobia
somehow i foolishly forgot to post these remixes ages ago and i wish i could tell you why but i seriously had some sort of malfunction. perhaps i hadn't been eating my vegetables? or maybe it was bad karma for watching the TMF channel for 15 minutes? either way i'm making sure you're not missing out these by being better late than never. fuck buttons "street horrrsing" album received numerous amounts of praise last year (pitchfork's number twenty) for creating a shake of ambient experimental noise. it's not as scary as it sounds, you've just got to think gang gang dance and animal collective to find a similar wavelength. the andrew weatherall remix removes "sweet love for planet earth" from it's plastic casing and adds a vigorous edge to the already epic creation, suited for an alternative summer vibe. the same goes for fuck buttons reworking of the lovely fever ray, one half of the knife, where you're left with the hard decision to risk losing yourself in the hypnotic loop or not. just make sure that you take a ball of string so you can find your way back.

ready for you all
somehow i've managed to earn the reputation for pure filth on twitter and i can't possibly think why? perhaps it's all the talk about air groping, stockings and sex dice? don't you think it's far more interesting than nattering on about what you've just eaten? in fact it's probably rubbed off a little on the trending topics with these discussions about three words you say after sex and turning the beatles songs titles into porn flick names (personally i liked "fist and shout"). although i have to say, i'm not the only one. jared from molasuperpoco is far worse than me! and jay from decibel sometimes joins in on the filth by sharing naked annie mac photos, true story, but he says one day he'll get me some sort of counseling for this. well guess who's now naming their remix after a sexual act that involves multiple partners and one willing recipient!? though i definitely do recommend you download and listen to their newest remix, it's dirty! a bit like old skool crookers or foamo on a guilt trip, well just think, the sort of sound that will explode in the club. by the way blogger, this is still a child friendly blog.

interview: ESKIMO TWINS
Two crazy kids from Leeds, we give you funkers the chance to meet funkisms newest friends, Eskimo Twins.

FUNKISM: How and when did you give birth to these Eskimo Twins?

ESKIMO TWINS: We started working together just over a year ago. It started with the two of us producing demo tracks, finding our common ground, and developing our sound. We did tunes, re-wrote and re-worked them, then scrapped them, and started over again. Then repeated the process a few more times until we were happy. We're both pretty obsessive and are very anal about production and sounds. Basically we're just a couple of synth fanatics who flippantly change their minds whilst trying to make electronic music.

FUNKISM: By logging onto your myspace it's clear that you create dark electro, do your influences of Kraftwerk and Slayer have a big part in your sound? Being head bangers at the tender age of 15 I am sure it played a part.

ESKIMO TWINS: Both of us have pretty a wide ranging taste in music. We love metal, rock and 60's pop alongside techno, house, electronica and electro etc. I guess our sound hints at the rougher musical elements you might find in a Slayer song, fast rhythmic changes, dischordant harmony, stuff like that.

In our formative teenage years we were both pretty hardcore into metal. We still like our music heavy and that probably reflects in places, but equally we're all about kick drums and vocoders. Kraftwerk's songwriting approach to electronic music is second to none. We like to have a more 'song' based approach to our music, not always just your typical Big Club Tune structure, so in that respect they have influenced what we do.

FUNKISM: If you had an Irish accent do you believe you would be a bigger hit with the ladies? Which leads me into asking, who is the better wing twin?

ESKIMO TWINS: Erm...

FUNKISM: Eskimo Twins got their taste of playing Wax: On, any funny stories to tell us seeing as you shared a stage with the Erol Alkan and Diplo.

ESKIMO TWINS: Wax:On constantly puts on the best lineups in the north of England. Last months ended with Erol, Boys Noize and Diplo going back to back in the main room and a massive stage invasion, always a great night.

FUNKISM: Any chance Diplo slipped you the Major Lazer album that night, to pass on to me of course

ESKIMO TWINS: No unfortunately he didn't.

FUNKISM: Explain the Eskimo Twins live show. Is there lots of synths and laptops?

ESKIMO TWINS: Our setup is based around 2 synced laptops, some synths, midi controllers, FX units all running together through a big desk. It's a mix of sequencing and live instrumentation; everything that can physically be played live by two people, is played. We try to make the live show as hands on as possible. One of us will be playing the basslines on the Moog whilst the other plays synths, edits, arps, or samples via triggers: then we'll swap round.

The set is organised so we can jump around tracks, extend sections and jam live as we go, so it's never quite the same each time we play it. It's more fun for us to actually play instruments rather than tweak controls on a laptops. Adding that element of un-predictability engages the audience more. With live electronic music, the sounds involved can be quite strange & ambiguous, but if the audience see you hit a key on a synth and hear the resulting noise, it makes it clearer for them what we do and keeps them involved. It also makes things interesting for us, we'd definitely get bored just pressing play on a computer and adjusting a couple of filters here and there, the way we do it is much more fun. There's always lots of running about and bad dancing on stage, we want to give the audience something to look at.

FUNKISM: Why doesn't an igloo melt inside?

ESKIMO TWINS: Because after they are built, the door is closed, a lantern is lit, the snow walls melt a little, the door is opened, the water forms a protective layer of ice over the inside. They melt in the summer.

FUNKISM: Your debut EP is out next month, is there a buzz going about the igloo? Should we be excited by delicious remixes?

ESKIMO TWINS: The EP has been a long time coming so we are please to get it out. The remixes are great, In fact our igloo recently fell down as a result of the buzz caused by the remixes on there.... Jo Kira has turned Red Triangle into a really groove-laiden, bouncy house track, it's a great summer club remix. Hostage has re-worked Insidious into a heavy electro banger. We're big fans of Hostage and were really stoked to have him on remix duties, he certainly didn't disappoint.

FUNKISM: The two of you seem very open to your fans and more than happy to give out your music if they drop you a message, which is always nice to see. Nevertheless, can you tell us where we can expect to buy your debut EP so we can show you love with some coin?

ESKIMO TWINS: Yeah we are always posting stuff up, podcasts, remixes tracks etc, the more people it reaches the better. The Red Triangle EP is coming our on 27th June via the Street Beats label. Digital download from all the usual sites, (ITunes, Beatport, DJ Download, Juno etc.) and the 12" should be doing the rounds in independent dance record shops. Our 2nd EP will be out at the end of August.

FUNKISM: We like to think we keep a bit ahead of the game here at funkism, so we cheat and ask artists such as yourself who we should be looking for in the next coming year.

ESKIMO TWINS: Joe and WIll Ask? have been making a name for themselves for a good while now, but we think they'll really be making a serious impact on the scene over the next year. We haven't seen them live yet, but their productions are great, a good mix of groove and melody. Doorly is blowing up at the moment. He's an excellent DJ and his productions and remixes are smashing it. His Toys EP will be out in July on Wax:on Music, expect big things from him over the next 12 months. People Get Real are producing some great Techno at the moment, and Youth Attack! are coming out with great remixes and tracks. On a non-electronic tip, The Old Romantic Killer Band are gonna do big things this year too.

FUNKISM: Cheers guys for letting this go ahead, I'll leave you to fish and gut polar bears. Talk soon.

Wow, don’t know about you but I definitely learnt more about the Eskimo Twins and my love for them grows once again. Would like to thank them loads for allowing this to go ahead and best of luck with the releases this summer. 27th June sees the drop of their The Red Triangle EP, be sure to get it! Get a cheeky first listen of Red Triangle here.

Any more questions for the Twins, hit them up on their myspace! They would be more than happy to sort you out with answers. Watch this space for more in the coming weeks. If you want to get even more interested in these guys, download their Wax:On Podcast.

i'm ready to disco
so to continue on from the balearic disco theme brought up by the tiedye remix i posted a couple of days back, here's another journey into a destination unknown by somebody i first discovered on hyperbole. in fact it was youth's, a great new producer from brisbane, stevie nicks remix that really grabbed my attention and who fuelled the track by capturing pockets full of space and inserting them into every second that passed. he's hyperbole's boy which therefore makes him some kind of distant cousin to me i.e. show this guy some love yea? his latest remix of swiss indie rockers strandhotel, thanks jan gerlach, reinforces the balearic sound youth is so good at bringing to life. i just wish there was a dub, it'd be amazing.

too fast for love
i've always loved the presets for what they are, electronic music without the seriousness. it's all about having fun and not caring too much about the nit-picking but if you lose that flippant attitude, you'll lose the core of the modular duo. occasionally kim moyes applies this ethos to some original tracks by himself which have been notably remixed by the likes of d.i.m. and the midnight juggernauts. however this time he's executed a rework of the bag raiders' fantastic "turbo love" man these guys are still keeping it fresh. and they're filthy too, i love it. discodust posted the whitenoise and light year remixes whilst bigstereo brought the flight facilities one to light, so i thought i'd might as well complete the whole collection by giving you the kim remix. for an interesting twist don't forget to check out the "party machini" release.

don't forget to give snob scrilla's "spaceship" a listen as well which was produced by the almighty bag raiders. it's like an awesome blend between hip-hop and electro, you'll definitely like it.

you burn for me
the disco music of the late seventies and early eighties has influenced electronic music in so many ways. it's probably more clear to see now than in recent years with this meteoric rise of italo and balearic inspired back burners and genre-blurring party catalysts. so with soulwax working on production and au revoir simone on vox for aeroplane's highly anticipated debut album, the hype for disco is only going to increase. this rework here by the swedish duo tiedye, who are best known for their releases on the mega cool italians do it better label, is a masterclass in how to turn a moment of beauty into a format that reaches people all over the world. the original by dj kaos already earned its distinction but it's tiedye's magic touch which accentuates the passion and lust for some sex-fueled hours alone with a loved one. it's about sharing this great experience and enjoying the time as if it might not happen ever again. an unforgetable memory born from your synergy. this is my sound for the summer, and i'm sure it will continue to have the same impact many years on.

if you like classixx, todd terje and tensnake this is definitely for you. in fact it should be for everybody because it's so good it's something you just can't sleep on. yea i know i'm biased because this was in my charts, but it was in aeroplane's too. if that's any persuasion anyway.

klipar is an omen
Why is it not that sunny today! However, on the bright side, I have a friend’s 21st birthday tonight and yes there will be a bouncy castle at it. I can only imagine the state some people will get into on that. Rule happens on the bouncy castle stays on the bouncy castle!

This lack of sun is making me sad, makes me wish I were back in Portugal on holiday. If I were to head off tomorrow, I would make definite plans to hang with my pal Klipar! One-half of Tales for Teens and one of funkism favourite rising stars. Real name Diogo Cunha, he explains this remix was only a bit of fun. Gets me jealous that, but then again it is so good to hear the young guy again.

This bit of fun comes in the form of what he sees a Prodigy Omen remix should be. Much more high voltage though out the track and then BOOM we take off from it. It is the kind of track that would have been played in the background when Dr. Victor Frankenstein created a monster called Frankenstein.

He also has a nice mixtape just in time for the summer, I wonder if I could get away with playing this the whole night. Be sure to check it out, I am certain there are at minimum three tracks you will love and not have heard of. Tracklist in comments.

who me? i'm toddla t!
Just a quick post to say I'm still about! I've just been enjoying my summer and sorting out holidays etc. With the drop of the new Toddla T album hitting us last week why don't funkism give Mr. T Willy some more funkisses. I'll have some Count and Sinden on mine however.

The album has been put on repeat for the past few weeks (keep an ear out when listen, some great one liners in there) and I am continuously hearing 'Shake It Shake It' coming out of the radio. Most from the Annie Mac show, but that might be because they seem to be best of buds.

Dominating the airwaves at the moment, don't expect it to stop. Come next month when Radio 1 give him his own radio slot! I'm not sure how well this is going to go down...I mean you can expect the music to be all new and banging but I swear I can't under stand the kid when he talks! Here have some more:

Turns out I was meant to be working yesterday not today, my boss also told me to sort out my hair. Fuck you pal!

ass to mouth
today i'll have to warn you that this track is not safe for work, nor is it safe for home listening either depending if you still live with your parents. it's not because it'll punish your desktop's speakers or be a stigma for destruction, this remix will do that regardless, but more for the reason that aniki has introduced samples and soundbites that your mother will frown upon. perhaps even get you in trouble with your boss if you havn't got a cleavage. there are oooohhhs and ahhhhhs, even a nymphomaniac desperately asking for a cock to be put up her ass or something. i guess aniki could have done without these additions because the remix itself is a great opportunity to have a wobbly dance. this guy shouldn't really be news to you because of his release on lee mortimer's label but don't worry if it is, this is a great way to get into his works. check the first drop, boom. aniki, you're pure filth.

i remember the time when my flatmates heard me listening to the switch remix of freeform five, i had to educate them about dave taylor. just came back from watching the new terminator. it's pretty decent but i'm a sucker for arnie classics.

june playlists
it was pretty difficult choosing my playlist for june but i think i found a decent balance between the disco, techno and bass heayy music i've been listening to recently. despite the main buzz for turbo coming from the likes of tiga, proxy and popof, i think "shaman" by guy j is their best release this year. definitely a great month for music coming up though with major lazer, boys noize and simian mobile disco hopefully providing you with a soundtrack to many summer parties.

pabs
01. guy j - shaman (mohan das spellbound mix)
02. dj blaqstarr - get off (jack beats remix)
03. florence & the machine - rabbit heart (switch/leo zero remixes)
04. dj kaos - love the night away (tiedye remix)
05. 80kidz - miss mars/getting you off feat. hey champ
06. boys noize - worried (djedjotronic remix)
07. zombie nation - shottieville (proxy remix)
08. alexander robotnick - disco sick (tensnake mix)
09. heckmann - slot machine (jesper dahlback remix)
10. it's a fine line - woman (a makhnovshchina repossession)

marky
01. zombie nation - worth it (arveene & misk remix)
02. 80kidz - miss mars
03. crookers ft. wiley & thomas jules - business man
04. florence & the machine - rabbit heart (switch/leo zero remixes)
05. toddla t - rebel (skream remix)
06. bad boy bill - falling anthem (hervé remix)
07. lykke li - dance dance dance (buraka som sistema remix)
08. the whitest boy alive – 1517 (morgan geist remix)
09. alexander robotnick - disco sick (tensnake remix)
10. benga - 26 basslines (dubble step edit)

the ivan smagghe and tim paris collaboration at number ten is a tad old but it seamlessly combines disco with techno and in turn, creates a perfect slowburner on a june evening. beg, steal and borrow!
the knock
last saturday saw the final of britains got talent and although i don't watch it, most definitely the best act won. my good friend amy showed me the winning performance on youtube and you've got to say them chaps from all walks of life have got mad skills. it's true though, britain has got lots of talent. and i don't just mean kelly brook and keeley hazell! in fact if you look around the whole 'fidget' and dubstep scene, most of the best and upandcoming acts come from the UK. fronted by hervé and his cheap thrills crew, there are also the producers on potty mouth, wearhouse and electric sushi to look out for. one of these, who we've been supporting heaps since we first wrote about how it wasn't safe to have a picnic in the woods anymore, is bass weazal and both of whom are intent on causing a chaos wherever you listen to their music. here's their latest remix, and it's aces.

don't forget the "cannock wobble" EP is out now featuring some brilliant remixes by bill eff! by the way, i'm glad that susan boyle didn't win. opera singing again after paul potts, boooorrring. there's something about diversity which fits in perfectly with the theme of the variety show and it's nice to give kids these days good role models. just saying.
