okay so its 08:14 in the morning and i've had just three hours sleep- what am i doing awake? crazy fool? well truth is my mind has been elsewhere. my urge for bed has been ever so welcomely substituted by excitement. whilst crashing in at five last night, i was greeted by two shiny discs on my bedroom table! now i could be cruel and keep you guessing as to what has lured me away from the land of nod but im not that mean. actually i am quite a bastard. how about i give some clues? the first disc is a package from the blog world's favourites and are playing moda next month-tremendous. the second is an album from a guy who told me nearly a year ago that this was due for a release real damn soon. he lied! but it's certainly well worth the wait. and in fact- well worth feeling tired for.
what's better than unexpectedly finding a five pound note in your old coat pocket? is it- finding a double decker in your lunchbox? watching a jean-luc godard film? reading a kurt vonnegut classic? no. how about- getting the last blackcurrant fruit pastel in the packet? a free ice cream with your meal? your favourite team coming out on top in their derby match? not quite. so perhaps, waking up in the morning next to adriana lima? or mélanie laurent? olga kurylenko? possibly waking up to all three? well i guess there's no contest there... apart from a new bass weazal mixtape! yay! you know technically it's the year of the ox but we can change that- i've got a good feeling that it's going to be the year of the WEAZAL!

hello everyone! i just want to quickly grab your attention, in particular to all you lucky so and so's who live in australia. the lovely elle, formerly of trashbag kids, is involved in a new project called the music people where they will soon bring an array of crazy parties to sydney. the fun starts on the 25th of this month where germany's boys noize and d.i.m in addition to french house producer fred falke will be providing the music. i mean it doesn't get better than that does it? you've got the merciless savagery of the electro giants joined by the melodic genius of freddy boy- you get the best of both worlds! tickets can be bought here. 1st release $40 +BF :)
our french friends from lucky dip have been rocking itunes ever since they started in the summer. they've had quite a few huge names participating on their podcasts including fellow reims boy, brodinski! impressive yeah? our foamo and the heavy-duty parisian don romini have also joined in the mix supporting their profound love for all killer electro and house music. if you havn't already, you can join the ever increasing subscribers list here on itunes. now dragan and keyes have taken france by a storm, they've set their sights on the rest of the world. last month saw the first ever lucky dip party hosted in the country where all the locals love crazy sex, drugs and dennis bergkamp- in other words holland! i guess i have to admit that you can't expect a technical electronic classic but what you do get is masses of electro goodness. perhaps naked raving? dirty dancing? drunken kissing? who's know but i should be there! a few days ago they played with australia's trumpdisco which i know went down a treat in their hometown and on jan 17th they will be playing in disney land paris.. wow! mickey mouse is gonna hammered woop :)
so i guess what better way to start the year than to look at some of the promising talent around now. since appearing on the essential mix with jaymo back in april '08, andy george is now a part of a monthly slot on radio 1 alongside his partner in crime where they showcase the latest new music they've been loving. louis la roche, nadastrom, jack beats.. for example? but also chatting to armand van helden, grum and brodinski. not only that, andy released an almighty EP with scott cooper as well as producing that killer remix of lord skywave. huge indeed. i guess just as impressive is his residency at the moda parties which are now officially (accordingly to mixmag) the fourth best night in the UK. woop! well they'd be my number one but hey, i'm biased with lincoln being my hometown and all. at the end of last year saw sheffield DJ, toddla t, take a trip down to moda where he unleashed his manabadman track which feartures serocee. wow that's some crazy shit but i love it! so how kind of the pair to share andy george's refix of the track. check it out! and i guess while i'm here i might as well kill two birds with one big funkism stone. another pair to look out for in 2009 are jokers of the scene. there's little point in me already adding to the countless praise JOTS have received from numerous blogs since they first announced onto the world so i'll keep it short and sweet. i heart jokers of the scene just as much as i do for a certain olga kurylenko. god, she's sexy! ohh and make sure you keep an eye on future moda music releases :)
