pic: level 75 recordsfor those of you who may think electronic music in france has gone stale over recent months, then you'd be wrong. sure some anticipation has been lost regarding the latest
ed banger and
kitsuné releases but hold your horses as there's still a french record label out there as fresh as ever.
level 75 records have been one of the most consistent labels of late, yet it suprises me as to why theyve always been underrated and overlooked. furthermore, they are the ones responsible for nuturing the likes of
popof and
dj edjotronic who, as you all should know, are both
funkism favourites. now like a mother seeing her sons fly the nest,
level 75 have had to see their prized assets move on. i mean, the lure and attraction of joining such a prestigious label as
turbo recordings would be too tempting for us all! but expect
level 75 to be back with future stars like
keatch and
faces under their wing. in fact, if youre intrigued, purchase their
spicy cunt vol.1 compilation which features thirteen loud tracks from many upandcoming french and belgian producers. available on all digital shops!
though for now, after getting in touch with ben at
level 75, i'll be looking at
dj edjotronic and the ever impressing
faces. jeremy (dj edjo) has been a familiar name for us all this past year gone, having often featured alongside ed banger's
busy p. actually it may come as a suprise that in the past, he has actually collaborated with the mighty
popof! his debut EP,
turn off, gathered huuuge support with names such as
mr. oizo,
justice, and
oliver huntemann all wanting to hear more from the talented producer. i can tell you all as well that
alex ridha is releasing
dj edjotronic's second EP on
boys noize records. massive news! expect some classy remixes and an interesting feature from south african rapper, spoek b. the remix jeremy has done for
DSL is shrouded with a catchiness that will trigger dance frenzies around the world. it showcases the kind of talent that
level 75 look to find and support. unfortunately though lovelies, i can only stream this...but perhaps some time in the future i can treat you all with shareable
dj edjo goodness!
Stream:promising parisian producer nicolas, better known as
faces, brings to us electronic music with flair and a contagious sense of fun. unlike many other artists out there,
faces doesnt concentrate on creating the killers that may cause future health problems to your body, but instead he likes to drop deliciously infectious acid electro stompers. the difference is i guess, let me think of a way to describe it, well...imagine owning a cardboard box that had a disco inside. then imagine having the power to rip it up and put it back together again but this time with jagged edges, emphasised fierceness and stuffed to the brim by the cloud zeus sits on. hmm perhaps it's necessary to have a vivid imagination for that analogy hehe? anyway, one thing that is for sure, is that you'll love
click & noize and
level 75's eighth release:
faces'
runtime EP. make sure you keep an eye on nicolas and the label he's on. im sure they will love to hear your support on their
myspace profiles! though on a totally unrelated side note...i move into my new house on monday and im having trouble deciding which track will have the grace of being played first. any ideas what track should blast from my window for the very first time? ive had many recommendations already, some good shouts/some hilarious, but it would be nice to have some more to think about! also, i may be without the internet there for a couple of weeks till i get it sorted but dont fret! i'll find a way to keep posting ;)
