Many people are now saying that Paris is dying, Little by little.

Maybe it's true, I couldn't say. What is nice to do if you're around here is visiting the new La Clique's Establishment : Le Régine.
Right behind the Champs- Elysées, this place of 400 square meters is very nice to visit, with its' Panther on the small Dance Floor.
Btw there is quite a nice programmation this Week : Surkin and Kavinsky yesterday, So- Me and others tonight, Midnight Juggernauts tomorrow, King Teki Latex with Uffie on sunday. "Girls Just Wanna Have fun" Dudes.

André has finally released its' Black Block collection. Black Block isn't only his new brand's name, it's also the name of the little shop situated in "Le Palais de Tokyo" (Tokyo Palace in English), the leading museum of Modern Art in Paris.

The quality's good and you can easily buy on Colette's website if you're not in Paris atm.

What is also cool to visit is Chloe More aka "Bonnie"'s new Web Gallery of Photography. Aged very young, her pictures already have the maturity of an old person. (and you know it is a quality i like among others...)

Leave a comment, just show affection.

New American Dream Team!

Go ahead and label this as Hickeys Mixtape because it basically has everything i want to hear right now on it and nothing that i don't. Pabs spent yesterday vibing with the gorgeousss Little Boots, Ms Mac, and the Moda regulars but I swear i was having just as much fun with my little portable strobe, jamming to TADT's new mixtape with all the curtains closed. I don't listen to many mixes anymore never mind posting many up, but this is great. To be honest this could have been totally slam mixed (its not , its great) and i'd still have dug it from the track selection alone.

The American Dream Team, although very quickly gaining exposure don't seem to be on everyyybodys radars just yet, and when i posted the first version of MONEY up a while ago (this track, "Money, Bitches, Cars, Clothes andd Weeeedddd" through a vocoder. Ahhh vocoderrrr..)I definatly felt part of something new and special. Now we have a version straight from Cody to give you thats even moreee special. A new version of MONEY featuring a man that ive come to know as the Villains secret weapon Whiskey Pete laying some vocals over the top. Really does add a nice bit of spice.

So! The mixtape...
The American Dream Team - What Dreams Are Made Of V2 Digital Mixtape

And the NEW version of Money, not like it wasnt great enough already...
The American Dream Team - Money VIP ft Whiskey Pete and Andre Parnel

its moda tonight with annie mac, simian mobile disco, little boots and of course the moda regulars andy george & jaymo! words cannot describe how excited i am! after a week of drowning in student anthems, a step up in music is more than welcome. fortunately while im home, i have just enough time to share this with you guys (hopefully my internet will be sorted out soon and things can be back to normal here!). after having sold her piano in LA to muster up enough cash for a plane ticket home back to london, vv brown began working on her debut album which features crazeee pop music with an array of influences. to put it better vv brown describes her sound as retro doo wop indie pop, whilst travelling on a rocket, all the way up into the deepest part of outer space. make of that as you will! this girl has the potential to make it big! did you see her on jooools holland performing her next single?? in fact anybody seen the artwork for the crying blood cd single??? it's beautiful! the remix package includes versions from andrew weatherall, moody boyz and dust brothers. however the one im sharing is a remix from mrs bastard batty bass, hannah holland. beware it's addictive!

it's getting hot in here..
pic: klever

soooo youve just finished work or school, and youre arriving home excited the weekend is finally here! what do you do next?? of course, checking funkism will be the first on your agenda, but staying in is most definitely not. get your gladrags on, bring your friends round and engage with your favourite tipple because its time for a parrrrrty! fortunately the ever impressing scion a/v have returned once again with another killer remix package (check out the epmd remixes). big gipp's hot has been transformed by the likes of treasure fingers, which hickey showed you all waaaay back in early august, but also lets not forget about the efforts from klever and rob wonder. atlanta dj, klever, has been raking in the praise from huge names like a-trak and craze so its no suprise when you see the fella a work. being such a talented turntablist, he is able to utilise his technicals skills to catalyse a party rocking atmosphere. his remix for big gipp is one fine example which can be likened to the works of mstrkrft. rudeee, chaotic and crowd filling! so tonight when youre getting ready...doing your hair...having a shower...putting your clothes on...play klever's remix and watch the frenzy commence. just be prepared to get yourself ready all over again! a 320 for you all!

A1 Bassline, cant touch this
pic:RobinBharaj

I'm sure all of you have heard of Party Shank, whether they added you over myspace (as i think they added more than half of the myspace population) or from hearing their Mario Gameboy music.

Around this duo other projects have evolved, the most ear catching and promising project from what I can see is Christian Shank's, A1 Bassline. And you would be right, he loves a bit of dooorty BASS. Christain has been working on this project since being in college, since Party Shank took of i feel A1 Bassline had to take a backseat and allow the 'Toy Step' genre of Party Shank to have its own fame.

In fairness to A1 Bassline the time has come to think about himself much more as this project has the flavors and spices to be huge.

A1 Bassline - No Running Mixtape

01 - Intro-splice girls vs dizzee vs herve vs bloc party
02 - A1 Bassline - Bad Man Horror Theme
03 - Heavy Feet - Killa
04 - Foamo - Rokerman (Lee Mortimer rmx)
05 - Herve vs Kissy Sell Out - Rikkalicious
06 - Basment jaxx - Nifty
07 - Alphabeat - Boyfriend (Bloody Beetroots rmx)
08 - Nadastrom - Soul Pussy rmx
09 - Ac Slater - Kuku (Urchins Bring The Pain rmx)
10 - The quemists Ft. Wiley - Dem Na Like (A1 Baseline rmx)
11 - Foamo - Everything Cool
12 - Jackinori -Bad Boi J'Taime
13 - A1 Bassline Vs Dean Tynan - We Love Pussy
14 - Machines Dont Care - SoundBoy Massive
15 - A1 Bassline Vs Christian Shank - We are Everywhere
16 - Little Boots - Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood rmx)
17 - Does It Offend You Yeah - Epic Last Song (Jack Beats rmx)
18 - Bloody Beetroots - Ill To Destroy
19 - A1 Bassline Vs Girl And A Gun - Whomp Dat Suka

Bassline House, new to most of us as a genre but is slowly being uncovered and growing at a fast rate was mainly confined to Sheffield and other Northern parts of England. A1 has said himself that he is surprised that it has took the genre this long to evolve on a more global scale tearing away from its previous epicenter as it has been around since the garage days.

While the Bassline House genre expands, A1 has been out in L.A doing what he does best, destroying the dance floors with his handmade remixes and BOOMING bass!

And lets not go into his style when it comes to his clothes!

And who better to see it from than DJ Pfel and DJ Atom, one half of the 2006/ 2005/ 2004/ 2003 World Team Champions - C2c
Other famous faces to win the contest are Scratch Perverts and A-Trak

Not much of an introduction into a new artist, but who needs an intro when you can scratch like this:

After seeing how the tracks get put together, it makes DJ Pfel and DJ Atom look all the more impressive

Be sure to check them out as they have live set available to download. The Beat Torrent show is an intense 90 minute journey through hip hop and electronica mixed with jaw dropping precision and skill, on 4 decks

paris boooootycall

G'day Mates !

The weather's not that good today in Paris, and i haven't posted anything for a while. This is time to get back to business.

Do you know Kaptain Kadillac ?
You should. Young french producer, he's part of the Booty Call Crew.
Those guys are amazing. Go to their parties at Paris Social Club, and you'll understand very fast.

KapKad (as he likes to be called), usually makes people laugh with his crazy tapes like "casse moi le cul" ("break my ass") and dance with his Big Butt.

You should have a look at his myspace : www.myspace.com/kaptaincadillac

So i was just talking about the Booty Call Crew. Others like Marvy Da Pimp make you feel in Detroit, Chicago or Miami even if you're in a club in Paris. Friend of Dj Funk, his tapes are nice to hear too.

www.myspace.com/marvydapimpmusic

For you only, the Booty Call's myspace : www.myspace.com/bootycallrecords

PS : THEIR NEXT PARTY, FEATURING THE ITALIAN HIS MAJESTY ANDRÉ (myspace.com/hismajestyandre), WILL TAKE PLACE AT PARIS SOCIAL CLUB, PARIS, THE 3RD OF OCTOBER.

funkism feature: level 75 records
pic: level 75 records

for those of you who may think electronic music in france has gone stale over recent months, then you'd be wrong. sure some anticipation has been lost regarding the latest ed banger and kitsuné releases but hold your horses as there's still a french record label out there as fresh as ever. level 75 records have been one of the most consistent labels of late, yet it suprises me as to why theyve always been underrated and overlooked. furthermore, they are the ones responsible for nuturing the likes of popof and dj edjotronic who, as you all should know, are both funkism favourites. now like a mother seeing her sons fly the nest, level 75 have had to see their prized assets move on. i mean, the lure and attraction of joining such a prestigious label as turbo recordings would be too tempting for us all! but expect level 75 to be back with future stars like keatch and faces under their wing. in fact, if youre intrigued, purchase their spicy cunt vol.1 compilation which features thirteen loud tracks from many upandcoming french and belgian producers. available on all digital shops!

though for now, after getting in touch with ben at level 75, i'll be looking at dj edjotronic and the ever impressing faces. jeremy (dj edjo) has been a familiar name for us all this past year gone, having often featured alongside ed banger's busy p. actually it may come as a suprise that in the past, he has actually collaborated with the mighty popof! his debut EP, turn off, gathered huuuge support with names such as mr. oizo, justice, and oliver huntemann all wanting to hear more from the talented producer. i can tell you all as well that alex ridha is releasing dj edjotronic's second EP on boys noize records. massive news! expect some classy remixes and an interesting feature from south african rapper, spoek b. the remix jeremy has done for DSL is shrouded with a catchiness that will trigger dance frenzies around the world. it showcases the kind of talent that level 75 look to find and support. unfortunately though lovelies, i can only stream this...but perhaps some time in the future i can treat you all with shareable dj edjo goodness!

Stream:

promising parisian producer nicolas, better known as faces, brings to us electronic music with flair and a contagious sense of fun. unlike many other artists out there, faces doesnt concentrate on creating the killers that may cause future health problems to your body, but instead he likes to drop deliciously infectious acid electro stompers. the difference is i guess, let me think of a way to describe it, well...imagine owning a cardboard box that had a disco inside. then imagine having the power to rip it up and put it back together again but this time with jagged edges, emphasised fierceness and stuffed to the brim by the cloud zeus sits on. hmm perhaps it's necessary to have a vivid imagination for that analogy hehe? anyway, one thing that is for sure, is that you'll love click & noize and level 75's eighth release: faces' runtime EP. make sure you keep an eye on nicolas and the label he's on. im sure they will love to hear your support on their myspace profiles! though on a totally unrelated side note...i move into my new house on monday and im having trouble deciding which track will have the grace of being played first. any ideas what track should blast from my window for the very first time? ive had many recommendations already, some good shouts/some hilarious, but it would be nice to have some more to think about! also, i may be without the internet there for a couple of weeks till i get it sorted but dont fret! i'll find a way to keep posting ;)

In the name of the true messiah, Ludachrist!!!

Afternoon Funkers.
Seems my posts are more and more becoming mp3 less ! Now this would usually be a bad thing, but not when im giving you road maps to places to go and grab the greatesttt music up to the ACTUAL minute. We do that now don't we, dj types out there, check blogs half hour before we play a set, we are ACTUALLY playing up to the minute freshness, and theres no irony or kitch in that statement, its just, true!

So lets think of me as a navigator,i have this bad ass map in my head. And i give you directions (links?) to places to get amazing music.

For those of you that havent heard of ludachrist. You are in for such a treat. Im not gonna talk about them too much because I think i'll get my facts wrong but they are somehow linked to Kill The Noise and did that Se-bast-i-am mashup a while back and that amazing Bangfest mixtape. Well. They kept god damn quiet on this one. They just released their E.P! For free ! On their myspace. Along with a super cool 'storyline', with all fantastical and magical imagery. And god, the fucking cover art alone.

the sound of evil pandas
so yesterday i promised you that i'd dig deep for something special laying dormant in the fidget house world and indeed i have. in fact ive dug so far ive ended up in belgium. having been billed to play alongside mr. oizo, proxy and d.i.m in the next few weeks, this crazy duo (sound of stereo) are currently tearing it up in their homeland. and i reckon these guys have found the perfect equilibrium regarding fresh sounds and electro goodness. think ghetto vocal chops greeted by treacherous beats. think controlled distortion with extra bounce. think crookers vs the bloody beetroots. there's no doubt that this will have caught your attention...and im more than positive this will too. it's a preview of a monster called evil panda on their forthcoming EP. i mean one listen of this and it's not leaving your head for a long time. but can you imagine what will happen when this gets played at night? can you imagine the chaos that will commence at such an occassion? the accidental bruises? drinks flying everywhere? jesus!

Stream:

the other track on that EP is called parrot attack and will be featured on a pukkelpop cd compilation mixed by none other than our dearest dr lektroluv. so that's whet your appetite for more? i sure hope so because we've been granted permission from the lovely fellas at sound of stereo to post two tracks from their previous EP. we need to invent a dance for this kind of music. you know, like a crazy dance. something that will spread and takeover the world! seriously, ideas to my mail or comments...then perhaps i will take a video of myself having a go at your suggestions (perhaps, perhaps, perhaps....) - but in the mean time, take a look at these tracks and bask in the anticipation of their first digital release!

starlight can you hear me my friend?
pic: pretty-as-a-picture

hey guys sorry for the wait, ive just been moving bits and pieces to my new house over the past few days. though, next week, i'll be showcasing many exciting gifts i promise! we will be looking into another fresh record label from france, digging hard for some more fidget goodness, whilst getting one unlucky so & so to play a game of funk or punk! but for today, i'm sharing a future DJ weapon from a young disco house producer called sebastien kenzy. it's something that will get the crowd's funkism cells animated...creating a catalyst for the process also known as complete dancefloor meltdown! it's special. it's emotive. it's something that will fuse 80's nostalgia with modern fantasies. by sampling madonna's lucky star, sebastien kenzy has opened pandora's box that will invigorate a sudden bout of swaying arms from fortunate partygoers. and there's more in the arsenal of mr kenzy! having been influenced by the likes of fred falke and matt hughes, sebastien decided he just wants to keep providing funky disco for the masses. with that in mind, he has an EP in the works which will be loud, funky and filtered! but his last, and most dearest, project at the moment involves NYC rapper christina k to create yet another mind controlling delicacy for you to fall in love with. so in the future make sure you keep one eye on this chap...and the other on SOULWAX's film/documentary part of the weekend never dies. it's out soon and i can safely say it's well worth a buy!

why did you switch off your brain?
pic: complejo

hands up everyone who hates having to get the train? it really is lame big time. all that waiting, sitting around and more waiting is a nightmare. it makes me wonder sometimes that if i roll around in some nuclear toxic waste, i could perhaps gain some kind of superhuman power that allows me to travel like the speed of usain bolt? time would struggle to keep up with me indeed! though usually i shuffle my way through my ipod listening to our current playlist and quite fortunate for me today, i had one extra track to listen to. a discodust fave, rayflash, got in touch to showcase his latest remix (available to buy on beatport) for house producer artego. i think you all know by now that i love a good paradox. the releases from alex ridha's boys noize is one prime example and im sure i dont need to explain why. though rayflash shows us all why we dont have to be from berlin or have a monobrow to be able to do this. his recent work blends together forceful drums and edgy distortion with his delicate synth stabs, which makes me forebode a chaotic mess that will consequence from such a rave inducing athem. that can only be good news. in fact, to add to that, rayflash will be doing a collaboration with several other artists. exciting stuff! and that's not all?! what else better to keep you occupied on your travels than a brand new dj mix?! yes! rayflash has also very kindly provided us all with a mix he created for no love lost records just before it ceased. and how lucky we are that he still decided to share since it's full of killers! the transition from siriusmo to trafik is still stuck in my head. madness! check the comments for a tracklist.

flirting with vacuous nostalgia part. 1
pic: retrodiva88

hmmmm the start of a new month and a start of a new season. so im finding myself in an autumn mood at the moment. you know, im ready for the leaves to go brown and fall. im ready to start looking around for coats and scarves in preparance for a change in weather. im ready for when it gets dark earlier. what about the summer...dont i miss it? well did we even get a summer here? (sigh!) but all this autumn talk puts me in the mood for some metronomy, maybe tom vek? perhaps even a blend of the two? that's what white williams kind of sounds like. the journey of joe is something of a crusade. he began making music in 1999 as a 15 year-old drummer at the time, touring with various US bands, but a few years later he started producing experimental indie electronic music. and it's come along with great success. his first album smoke, released back in '07 , is described by his label as unapologetic pop that flirts with the vacuous nostalgia of the american dream whilst engaging ambiguous and schizophrenic instruments with impressionistic lyrics, driven by a casually heterosexual backbeat. in fact, rolling stone had him as a breaking artist! so what im giving you today is something off his new violence EP. it features a remix by new york favourite, curses! that's plenty to get excited for.. considering, not only is luke venezia signed on institubes, but he is also better known as drop the lime. in fact he is l-vis 1990 too! though whichever his moniker, he still produces high quality tracks and remixes. i know perhaps the EP is a little old now...but it's perfect.

she's so fine she can't be beat

UPDATE: okay for some reason part. 2 has disappeared!?! and i have no idea why but i'll re-type the post here anyway because the remix is too good to miss.

flirting with vacuous nostalgia part. 2

so for those of you who were looking for something more electronic today and wanting to keep with the autumn feel, fear not! well i know i said at present i feel like listening to music which goes along the line of metronomy or even tom vek, which is very much true, but i think perhaps it's just something alternate i need. day by day i listen to music that's perfect for the night. perfect for chaos. perfect for a mess. it's just sometimes a break is needed. you know, let your ears recuperate a little. so i find myself, not only listening to white williams and curses!, but also of a promising italian producer called broke one. i find his remixes are perfect for such times. his version of erasmus by italian indie electro band, the phonograph, is one example. soft and controlled, yet still rough enough round the edges for me. and the remix he produced for disco house darlings, casa del mirto, for bad girls surf shows broke one's wilder side with an infectious bassline partnered by some measured distortion. and yea yea despite myself not being a fan of coldplay, there really is a place for this track in my heart. broke one transforms the original into something like a juxtapose. you know at parts, tranquil and mellow, but when the chorus comes in...it sounds like a forgotten brother of lifelike or kris menace. combinations of a god! music fit for heaven.

Having an open mind..

Last night I bought a ticket to see Iowian metal band Slipknot here in Perth Australia. They are coming here October 30th i think it is and bringing with them their world famous brand of masked metal madness. Slipknot belong to a genre I dont know much about, can not really make any comment and are far of the path of bands i'd usually listen, but for some reason I like them.

Last night I also recieved in my inbox 3 tracks from Baltimore Maryland B-more Klub Krank group Dirty Nation. Dirty Nation belong to a genre I dont know much about, can not really make any comment and are far of the path of producers i'd usually listen too, but for some reason I like them.

This is expanding your mind to different styles of even club music in its perfect example. I dont know at all why i like it, what it tickles inside me. But, i do know ive heard the word B-More banded around since I got into dance music not that long ago, and never understand what I ment.

I imagine it sounds like these tracks. This really really sounds like id imagine Baltimore Club music to sound. Ive never really heard music like this before, its completely new to me. And while i dont 100% love the tracks or anything.

Thats exciting.
