turbo charged
pic: girltripped

the phrase good things come to those who wait is appropriate for turbo records. we may have to wait patiently to get our hands on any forthcoming releases but every single time it's worth it. hell yea! i know it seemed forever to get copies of sunglasses at night remixes part 1 & 2 but im not complaining...they deliver once again as always. for one the alter ego remix is perfection, the sound of heaven in over 10 minutes, and that's even before you hear D.I.M.'s effort and popof's second remix. in fact i must warn people that there may be too much goodness to handle. can your brain contain all of that vast amount of quality? well if not look away now because this information coming up might cause you to explode with excitement! ...so tiga has teamed up with zombie nation once again for a dancefloor timebomb called the worm. yikes! tiga himself creating a weapon of mass destruction named mind dimension. jesus! popof pleasing crowds with his heavily sought-after track faces'uch. yay! and proxy giving us a release called indian film (name may be subject to change) that is capable of grievous bodily harm...wow! now im not too sure if i'll be able to sleep tonight knowing that. though dreams of turbo records for sure!

new star in the sky
pic: vektorscksprojekt

before your head hits the pillow tonight, be sure to take a gander at the stars in the sky. i mean im no astrologer, nor do i have any knowledge about constellations, but if you look carefully you might see a man in the moon. so say hello to him for me! during the night the stars are his friends who keep him company with dirty jokes they found on stephen hawking's computer. and do you know what music they all listen to when you fall asleep? none other than astrolabe, a young japanese producer who is influenced by 80's electro bands and likes to create paradoxes by combining hard deadly beats with flippant FUNKY samples. each track on his diffuse nebula EP is playful, upbeat with a positive mentality. it makes you happy. and what more could we ask for at present? with signs of an economic downturn and people feeling the global credit crunch..the near future looks bleak! hah well, everybody listen to astrolabe, forget the world's problems, and we'll all join the mad hatter for a cuppa. or we can play a silly drunken game of warface? george bush or vladimir putin need not apply for this. so whatever you prefer..

DL:

p.s. i forget the rules of warface but we can make it up as we go a long!

making dollars out of cents

these days hip-hop and electronic music are often seen together like a nipple slip at the latest celebrity bash. i mean last year we saw kanye (not entirely sure about his recent vocoder work) team up with the legendary daft punk and now even wiley is sampling one of the french duo's classics on his upandcoming single summertime. lets not forget too, mstrkrft's bounce nor the collaborations between kid cudi and everybody's current favourite italians, crookers. in fact these two genres have been complimenting each other for a long time now like for example, mr. oizo style beats could fit in seemingly to any one of j dilla's productions. although old school hip-hop was originally based on disco hits, it eventually became more electronic....which brings me nicely to EPMD also known as erick and parrish making dollars. i know, smooth!

EPMD were famous for lifting FUNK and rock breaks for samples which was seen when they used eric clapton's cover of i shot the sherriff in their classic underground hit strictly business. and the new york duo still have the magic over twenty years on, this time teaming up with one of the best names in the business to produce an exclusive release. with scion a/v (whose previous projects included ghostface killa, 45 king, GZA and big daddy kane) theyve managed to acquire some of the finest remixers of present to transform their next single run it. all three versions take completely different routes. hervé uses his trademark basslines, sinden draws inspiration from his uk garage influences and duke dumont goes for a more hip-hop take with bhangra styled loops. of course i'd love to share all three but im afraid im gonna have to make you wait till october 20th to buy the release! how cruel of me?? okay youve twisted my arm a little...here's the sinden remix!

Kid Colour and The Partyshank Mysteryyy

Hello Internet !
Today marks the first day of me not having a real job. Its great, ive set myself a 7-3 today and thats it, then ill spend the night listening to new tracks and watching listening to my best friend talk about how brilliant Ellen is.
It could possibly be THE LIFE.
The first track I want to bring to you today is by Kid Color. His real name is Kyle Woods and he's living in Chicago right now. I have a tendency to check out anything involved with the word Chicago, its a city i trust and I have alot of favourite artists from there. Now i have another one. The track Im posting was played at the Treasure Fingers show by my good friend Mick Zing. I'd heard it just the day before and went crazy on the dance floor.
I could describe the track (part mash up part original production)but that would just spoil the surprise!
I bring you Kid Color.

KID COLOR - DIGITAL PU$$Y

And now i need YOUR help! After not getting a reply frolm Partyshank for a couple of weeks.
First of all, if somehow partyshank slipped under your blog radar, here is an old track that I still play regulaly in my sets. Partyshank are Christian (A1 BASSLINE) and Party Sausage. Yeah? Really :) Well, silly names aside i saw these guys with Example in a tiny little pub in London before they blew up and was utterly inspired.
Heres some ish to get you excited..

PARTYSHANK - PENIS VS VAGINA (SHANKS KILLER MIX)

Now! YOUR HELP. Partyshanks new single Virgin/Kids Of The Future according to everywhere was suppossed to be on ITUNES August 19th. I can NOT find it, and i've been looking.
Anybody have any information ?
Would be much appreciated?
Its my next monthly party in 48 hours and i NEED those tracks to play :)

Peace and Love :)

strfckr hate the 80s
pic: dennis duijnhouwer

what a pleasant suprise! gifts for me and natalie in our inbox from simon little of strfckr! indeed how very nice of them. and you know, im ever so grateful because theyve really got me ready for a parrrty. i admit about an hour ago i wasnt quite in the mood...the weather didnt look great, i was feeling tired and i still have to make my dinner arrgh...but after listening to strfckr's goodies, im up and ready to go! in fact, just looking at them gets the party vibes going. they look wild! a barrel of fun! and having heard the album, it's pretty certain they have the FUNK we all love here at funkism. the first remix they sent was of mr soundtrack of love, marvin gaye. yea yea it's risky touching classics but im adamant you'll love this. grapevine has been given a modern touch with some anthemic synths and a rolling bassline but it's still kept close to the original...which you know makes this so so good. them vocals are just wow and strfckr give you another reason to enjoy them once again. second up is their remix of edu k and this time its a lot less reserved and instead, it's a full out disco bomb! but what really explodes is oddity's remix of their album track i hate the 80s. in a way it reminds me of shinichi osawa's work so expect something crazy, catchy, ready to cause chaos with strfckr's graham coxon style vocals. though i must stresss...WE LOVE THE 80s!

funkism feature: klipar
pic: klipar

in the first of many features, we will be taking a look at a young portuguese producer called diogo cunha, better known as klipar. despite having not been around the scene for long, he has managed to produce several impressive tracks that are destined for future success. in fact recently klipar finished a killer remix for lisbon based electro rock band blasfemea for their single neon showing crazy vocal work and pyshco synths that we have come to love over the past year. but what impresses me most about diogo, is not just his 'lets have fun' attitude to his works, but its his versatility in his productions. he tells me how he believes in almost all electronic music since 1997. sure daft punk may be an influence, and sure he would have noticed the recent hype...but in the last ten years we cant forget the rise of disco, french touch, techno and minimal. i guarantee his future productions will get better and better. in a way, klipar reminds me of the uk's very own grum. they both create electro bangers but with diogo there is a dark ambiance in some of his tracks. it's interesting, it's exciting and it's certainly a pleasure to listen too.

after talking to klipar i realise how much of a nice guy he is...always willing to answer questions, always willing for a bit of fun. and you know, i couldnt talk to him without having a game of funk or punk! the rules are simple. funkism asks ten random questions and diogo has to say which of the two he prefers. perhaps a slightly unorthodox way of getting to know someone but more fun nonetheless. here goes!

FUNK or PUNK with KLIPAR:
01. funk or punk?
hmmmm punk always!
02. fc sporting or benfica?
hahaha benfica but i never really go to watch the games

03. the olympics or naked pics?
naked pics because you can take more from them ihhi

04. bedroom disco or bedroom rave?
bedroom disco with a mirror ball on the roof!

05. soulwax or the chemical brothers?
SOULWAX hehe! because they showed to all that a part of the weekend never dies
06. sebastiAn or sebastien tellier?
can i choose both? for different reasons? at home tellier, at a party sebastiAn

you can't escape funk or punk...you have to choose one!
hehe at the moment i think sebastiAn

07. big brother (tv programme) or big scary giant pelican?
a big scary giant pelican with some hugging wings

08. rafael nadal or rafael teenage mutant ninja hero turtle?
rafael the ninja turtle (but i prefer donnatello!)

09. jay-z or jay jay okocha?
jay-z maybe...i don't get to watch much soccer

10. funkinky or funkissing?
funkissing to everyone! but sometimes funkinky is nice too

DL:
klipar - hey that was super [mediafire]
klipar - hard scream soft hear [mediafire]
klipar - incorrect [mediafire]

okay so thanks to klipar for playing! and we wish him all the best! here are three of his most recent tracks that ive much love for at the moment and please check out some of his others including his excellent blasfemea remix over at his myspace. say hi!

hey guys..any of you looking to liven up your weekend? perhaps this will help! well im on the slowest train ever but im posting this on my phone. dedication! and it's because i don't want you lot to miss this bomb of a mix from another upandcoming uk producer, scott cooper. there's so much new talent around here at the moment, words cant describe how excited i am. with the hype laying dormant in the uk for the past two years whilst it was reaching france, australia and italy..i think it's now the turn for the brits. and you know, plenty of it can be seen in cooper's mix for potty mouth music. there are his collaborations with the moda boys, andy george and jak-z as well as a killer from fidget supergroup machines don't care. trust me, this is the new sound and i hope in the near future i can feature more producers fronting the scene.

as a taster for what's to come, listen to scott cooper's latest mix. it starts off in explosive style with a track aptly named boom, a track where cooper, edu k and the lovely lella work together to create a real killer, and its being released later on in the year featuring a trevor loveys remix on the EP. wow! you also get to listen to his natty jack project which is being released on lee mortimer's imprint and includes a remix from fidget king, hijack. yay! and on scott cooper's own label, there will be a release of a track with the ever impressing jak-z as well as a remix of ac slater's fagget fairys. woop! remember these names!

Tracklist:
scott cooper vs edu k feat. lella - boom
natty jack - tech buddy
vukasin & ruffcut - understand (natty jack remix)
blatta & inesha - blow up (hijack remix)
rqm - miss pacman (oliver $ remix)

if you havnt already, now is the time to set up a bedroom disco. move your furniture out of the way, plug in your usb led disco ball and invite some friends! im providing the music! this time in the shape of us two music, a disco house/funk record label based in the netherlands. under their guidance, includes such great producers like geyster, russ chimes, the franchising, the outrunners and not forgetting the ever impressing lifelike. there's plenty on there to aid your bedroom two-step..or even a cheeky booty shake! and martijn, from us two music, was kind enough to share the lifelike remix of under the fuse of love with us. im sure i dont need to introduce lifelike as everybody knows what he is capable of but i'll tell you that geyster are a duo formed by gael benyamin and pernilla gronlund...they certainly know how to achieve that disco vibe and groove we all crave. the whole package will be coming out late september, possibly october, and can be bought at any major download stores with hopefully a 12" vinyl out soon as well.

goes for him, her so consequently
those who don't dance are rapers!

if you go down to the woods today...
pic: toyib

if you go down to the woods today, be sure of a big suprise...hell yeah! no way did i expect to see captain bear hold up the decks whilst mr badger lay on his back to support the mixer! and no this is not some perverted innuendo hah in fact captain bear and mr badger were aiding the work of two eccentric weazals from the uk. i mean, ronald and cedric weazal may appear tame to the human eye, but never under-estimate that survival instinct of those bass weazals as they are capable of a frenzy. capable of even more destruction than that seen from big foot. capable of those jacking beats, techno stabs and some dangerous bass that can cause dancefloors to errupt! and it seems we need not worry about the big bad wolf anymore. ohhh no. because the two trouble makers are leaving their home in the woods to cause chaos in the city! watch out!

imagine what i think the girl/woman would look like when i hear a female vocalist. I always imagine them, obviously, looking exactly like i'd want them too, that usually involves bright red hair and some crazy tattoo that goes from their neck right down to their left wrist. And square rimmed glasses...godd damnn if square rimmed glasses arn't the cutest girl accessorie i don't know what is...

Anyway! Lonely, by player player has a girl vocalist and I think she sounds cuteee. I just got this track this morning, having never heard of Player Player. From what i can gather player player is a HE, and his myspace 'about me' section looks very official, chatting about booking fees and remixes e.t.c. Mine is just me rambling on..maybe i need to be more proffessional. Whatever his myspace says however the fact is that he produces great great tracks.

One of them being.

They're Not Japanese, They're Not Popstars
pic: slumberdoll

If funkism was around 7 months ago, The Japanese Popstars would have been the first article i'd have written about, but the blog has been only open 8 weeks now and its going extremely well, thanks to you the funkism fan boys, girls and the things the interwebzz can do.

Now we're bringing the page views up and move funkism to the top of everyone blog rolls with a pinch of popstars, The Japanese Popstars.

The Japanese Popstars
, with only a few releases under their belt, are already held in conversation which link them to being the next The Chemical Brothers or Underworld. The group from Northern Ireland have been nominated and won a string of awards since they began in 1996.

Best House DJs 0 Urban Music Awards 2006
Top Irish Act - Connected Magazine 2007
Best Love Performance - N. Ireland Music Awards 2007
Best Love Performance - N. Ireland Music Awards 2008

There were many drunk discussions between the band members (Gary Curran, Decky Hedrock and Gareth "Galo" Donoghue), but the hot topic each time with the three 'lawwwds' from Derry and Dungannon, Northern Ireland, was the idea of the three DJs collaborating on a project. Yes that was all talk and no trousers but the drive for the project to actually begin occurred while the three friends were sitting in a field listening to live music (Oxegen), telling themselves how they will be payed to perform next year with their own music with a set of what they wanted to hear. That dream didn't quite come off that way but the following year The Japanese Popstars were the most talked about act of the Oxegen festival. Only the Japstars could have filled the 6,000 capacity of the dance tent during that early afternoon set time with a wave of happy people.

Listen:
The Japanese Popstars - Oxegen Sat 12th Jult 2008

When not The Japanese Popstars, the trio on their own are respected DJs in there own right and hold several residencies at clubs around Ireland, 515 - Tripod, Dublin, The Fold - Galway, Red Rooms - Derry, Yello - Belfast, The Grill - Letterkenny, Deep Fried Funk and the Nerve Center - Derry. Together they also hold a number of residencies at clubs around Europe such as Excentric in Ibiza.

Each member bring a different feel and energy into the tracks, showing a much more unique sound with a blending of acid rave on one side and the energy of rock band when playing a live show. This together has giving them a much more mainstream look, attracting the attention from Mixmag, IDJ Magzine, Our House Magazine and Hot Press to name a few....

The Northern Ireland guys year has just got much more longer since the release of their first album We Just Are and will see them touring from Derry to Japan to Australia. The collection of 12 tracks on We Just Are shall pull the friends even further into the music world and is sure to create a stir around the world.

"The Japanese Popstars aren’t indie rave, or any other sub-sub-sub genre, theirs is big room, cool as fuck electronic music built for festivals and stadiums. They’re not dance kids aping indie kids, nor are they indie kids dropping synths and calling themselves ‘ravers’."

Tracklist:
1. We Just Are (Intro)
2. Sample Whore
3. Face Melter
4. Delboys Revenge
5. B.C.T.T.
6. Dr Frenchy Bernard
7. Anthepic (We Have Taken Over)
8. The Smile
9. Rise Of Ulysses
10. Total Distorted Mayhem

12. We Just Are (Finalizer)

The Japanese Popstars also like to dabble their hands in the world of remixing also and my god are they good at it. The Japstars have a variety of fans which include Groove Armada, who went on to ask Derry trio to remix their track 'Get Down' and how have they killed it. Within the track there is a break down which transforms the song into an epic, ensuring it is stuck on repeat.

Bonus:
Groove Armada - Get Down - Original Mix (Japanese Popstars) [zshare]

While coming off the Oxegen dance stage the trio were approached by Jules and Katie of The Ting Tings, asking would they remix the bands next single 'Be The One' which shall be exciting to hear. Other project which are in the remix works are The Music (’Drugs’), Grand National (’Cut By The Brakes’), Shinichi Osawa (‘Star Guitar’), and Tong & Spoon (’Gas Face’).

Dance OR Die
pic:Ruairi Drayne

Following the post of the youtube video last week, we finally have our hads on a full length version of the highly anticipated Soulwax remix of Hey Boy, Hey Girl.

Before even listening, you know and i know that this track is going to be a favourite and will not disappoint. Once the intro is over, a fluttering bassline passes throughout the song until it hits the breakdown within the 7 minute long track, building up once again to a climax which will leave us thinking, what are the Soulwax boys going to remix next and when can we get our hands on it!

Although its a Chemical Brothers track, we can clearly hear the presents of Soulwax with their DUR DUR DUR beat of the kick drum which is found in all their remixes, the Soulwax sound.

(Which has been joked about by Erol Alkan and LCD Soundsystem in the Part Of The Weekend Never Dies documentary.)

The only downer of the whole track is that they have taken out the '2 Many Djs' sample in the song :(

so i guess i must be joshua harvey's biggest fan since everything i post seems to be from him. perhaps its because he's the hardest working producer in the business right now...every week there appears to be something new by herve. in fact just last week i wrote about his work with graeme sinden for their forthcoming single hardcore girls and in the near future we can expect an EP under his latest guise as action man. his mixmag cd, herve's party bombs is filled to the brim of tracks that epitomise the best sounds at the moment. there's the fake blood remix of the kills which we served to your ears first, his collaboration with kissy sell out and more excitingly, a new voodoo chilli track which show off his jazz influences. all i need now is a herve hat, a herve print tshirt and a herve flag which i can wave about when i go to one of his sets. make sure you say hi if you see me, i think id be easy to spot haha!

one guy causing a fuss this year is turbo records' popof. and there is every reason to cause fuss. his accessible style of techno music is highly regarded by the likes of erol alkan and of course tiga himself. in fact i know right now about a million people are tying to search google for faces'uch which was the unknown track on the latest brodinski podcast. truth! and how lucky am i to be a brit at the moment? very! popof is coming to manchester in september to play prostitutes & policemen which i believe to be the best party in the uk. previous guests have included mstrkrft, switch, sebastiAn, the count & sinden, crookers, the bloody beetroots, dj mehdi and i could keep going on...but this time it's the turn of popof to crank up the volume so try and show your face come the 24th of september. it will be worth it i promise! have a listen of his latest remix. mp3 96kbs.

I can't only talk about music in this post.

Yes of course, you've certainly heard about Sixpack, the leading streetwear French brand. It has recently released its excellent fall 08 collection.

so after writing about aussie talents ladyhawke and van she, it's time to fly down to south london...home of boy 8-bit! after his last release the suspense is killing me and his past few remixes of south rakkas crew, midfield general, chromeo just to name a few, the boy is living up to his name and has used 8-bit samples on his new remix of the bumblebeez. and it works incredibly well. the core boy 8-bit sound is still there. ever present are his trademark beats, his chopped up vocals and his clean synth melodies but the retro arcade game sounds are a welcome extra. with herve and crookers both already creating club bangers, it's nice to see boy 8-bit taking this track into a different direction. it may not get you thrashing about causing chaos to your home, but instead it will make you hop onto your bed and start mimicing the vocals of bumblebeez very own vila... im flying down to rio as you sway your hair from side to side :)

and while im here can i bring your attention a little south to italy's nt89. yes its pronounced nineteen eight-nine, a good year for many of course (shout out to all you 19 year olds out there!), but thats not what this is for. i'd like to show you his dr jackell and hyde sounds. on one hand his tracks are dark and foreboding, then others can be loud, brash and electrifying to meet all of your noize needs. so ive got two examples for you guys in the form of his latest remixes. the bloody beetroots/cécile and congorock efforts on bugo were both already killers which gave nt89 the motive to produce something beautiful and quite the opposite. the second, a re-edit of cecile's racer II, is something that will cause a stir in your household. electro goodness!

"Most influential, forward-thinking and relevant person"

Kinds words from the people of Beatport. Deadmau5 has had a stream of awards and nominations to entice him to create more of his hard to describe music. His sound covers all genres, with samples of techno, a pinch of house and flirtatious elements of electro.

His next EP 'Dr. Funkenstein' will be available in two weeks time (25-08-2008)

Tracklist
1 Dr Funkenstein
2 Apply Overnight
3 Fustercluck

The Toronto born DJ created the Deadmau5 character in 2005 and hasn't looked back, becoming the most downloaded artist on Beatport. In 2005 he released his first album, 'Get Scraped', on itunes and on compact disc. He has collaborated with many artists and built up a fan base which includes Sebastian Leger and Micky Slim.

cursed for eternity
CURSED FOR ETERNITY...no force in heaven will release them. no power on earth can save them. the tagline from a 1985 fantasy film ladyhawke starring matthew broderick, rutger hauer and michelle pfeiffer. but in pip brown's episode she is not the unfortunate lady isabeau trying to overthrow a corrupt bishop, nor is she cursed to live as a hawk by day (perhaps), as for 2008 the lovely new zealander has seen plenty of success with her releases back of the van and paris is burning. her adventure this year included supporting the likes of we are scientists and soulwax as well as appearing at the legendary glastonbury. be a part of ladyhawke's journey and support her on the uk headline tour at the beginning of october or nearer still, get behind her when she plays bestival on the isle of wight. it will be awesome i promise. with an incredible list of influences interpreted into her own pop sound, its a winning formula that will get you all singing in a harmonious fashion. so it's good news that her forthcoming debut album is scheduled for release on september 22nd. not long now! in the meantime though, you have the next single dusk till dawn to look forward to which features remixes from the shoes, linus loves and canyons with the latter the one im sharing with you guys. show her some modular love and get to one of her shows! :)

the music scene in australia over recent months has been likened to those seen in france due to its vibrancy, life and quality. and you know it's easy to understand why since it's given birth to modular's cut copy, institubes' midnight juggernauts as well as the presets, bag raiders, ladyhawke and bumblebeez just to name a few. all of their releases have been shown lots of love. and quite rightly too. in ghost colours has been championed as one of the best albums to come out this year, not forgetting the success of dystopia too. so perhaps it's easy for people to forget about van she with such acclaim going to everybody else. well i hope not. after taking over the airwaves under their dj guise of van she tech, the cosmic rock boys are back with an album i find perfect for summer dwindlings. for those moments when you want to drift away from reality, close your eyes and get lost in the music. and if youre wanting to extend that out into a full blown party, van she will be touring australia at the end of the month to celebrate their latest release. the album V is out now and can be bought here. so make sure you show them your support!

with such good music on offer in australia, it's no suprise that it is inspiring so many young bands and producers out there. which is exactly what happened to james kane. coming from melbourne, he's lucky to be so close to the ever growing aussie music scene. as with fellow young producer shazam. but james kane has taken this inspiration into a different direction going for a more lo-fi electronic sound. 1992 grumbles, almost foreboding, but then is toyed and teased again and again by his soft synths. an example of why he is gaining the kind words from le castle vania, matt & kim and calling in sick. he's currently working on some more new tracks for his debut EP so keep and eye out for that. until then, have fun listening!

pic: vicious-murder

hey im back from holiday! you know i left fiumicino airport that was shrouded by sun and mid 30 degrees celsius heat and i arrive back here in a drab, miserable uk. typical! though nonetheless we had a good time. rome is so so beautiful. just in awe of it's romantic background and the shear scale of history...oh and the beautiful ladies! hah our hotel was near to the huuuge trevi fountain where i chucked a few coins in and made a wish. i cant tell you what though otherwise it might not come true! but myth has it that one day i shall return to rome so let's hope so.

while i was away my inbox managed to fill up with a plethora of messages making it hard to decide what to post today. i attempted to find something that links with rome, but alas i failed. so im going for a chap that i think is a genius. someone who has a certain enigma, jackson and his computer band's long lost brother, pushing electronic music in the right direction with his unique sound. you may already know siriusmo from his work on simian mobile disco, boys noize, modeselektor or even from his allthegirls/diskoding releases that came out over the past year but it's worth noting down his name for future reference. i pray for an album soon!

MSTRKRFT - Fist Of God

D day now has a date...well a month!

MSTRKRFT have been working on their next album between their heavy nights on tour and the sleeping on the bus to and from the venues all round the world.

A new MSTRKRFT album has been announced to hit our ears some time in September. The album, which has yet to be named by our Toronto boys ALP and JFK will feature this beauty of a song, 'Fist Of God'

Not only is the album missing a name, we are yet to hear the label it is set to be released on. What we do know it shall be exciting to hear what the MSTRKRT boys come out with as we are told we will be taken back by the vocalist which will appear on some tracks.

MSTRKRT always give us something different whether it you sitting in the bedroom listening to it on your radio or a night out with the beer or vodka (or what ever you managed to sneak in to the club) flowing out of our pores, we are sure not to hear a set like most other acts, such as Justice where they will just play their entire LP and pretend like they're modulating something. Yes MSTRKRFT do play their own productions, but they aren't going to play 'Pairs' from start to finish and then put on 'Street Justice' on the end of it.

With MSTRKRFT we will hear a set that will give us a variety of tracks from all types of artists from different genres keeping that club experience right through the night and keep us all dancing.

The American Dream Team

Its 6:41 here in Perth, Australia and ive had an extremely unproductive day. Feeling a little bit demoralised I plonked myself down infront of my computer like i usually do when im a bit jaded Luckily amazing music like The American Dream Team keeps me inspired and snaps me out of my jaded daze and on the phone to book time in my colleges studio tommorrow.

I dont know much about The American Dream Team, i do know that everything Ive heard by them I absoulutly LOVE, and that the 4000 views on their myspace is just ridiculoussss. Swear, give it 2 months, a month even and add a couple a zeros onto the end of that profile view count.

The first track Im posting is the second track I heard by them and the track that made me a bonafide fan. Its called MONEY and i think i like it even moreee than i originally would have becuase it makes me uber nostalgic for that Glamour track HEAT that was on their myspace about a year and a half ago. The vocals at the start of Money remind me of those from Heat. "Money, Bitches, Cars, Clothes, and Weed".....Oh yeahhh...

The American Dream Team - Money

And next, equally amazing is Pound for Pound. Im sure they're more tracks lurking out there. Its your mission to go find em, the track itself is the prize.

five reasons to smile
pic: tote-augen

here in england the sun has gone, the clouds descended, the rain about to fall (it's only august so why's the summer shying away?) but none of it matters because im going to be in rome for the next five days woo! that's one reason to smile, well maybe not for the other 56 million brits! you know if i could i would take you all with me. it's just my suitcase isn't big enough. also i get to see my friend rachel and its been too long since the last time i saw her face. so yea, we will have an amazing time and enjoy the sun for you guys :)

so the second more convincing reason for you guys to smile is detboi of do you know who i am? fame. yes do you know who he is? that dublin geezer featured with the likes of herve for machines don't care? the guy behind the best remix of beeper for the count & sinden? of course you do. after reading a recent interview i found out that he's a real down to earth chap always looking to do something new, different and exciting. the way you cut up vocals makes me do nasty things. and with his forthcoming yall want mo EP on cheap thrills, it will certainly have me possessed cocked locked ready to rock. go show the boi some love! mp3s are 128kbs.

DL:
kidda - smile (detboi "luvs me" remix) [mediafire][buy]
detboi - yall want mo EP PREVIEW [mediafire]

number three on the list of reasons to smile comes from none other than the optimo (espacio) guys. for those of you have never heard of them (shame on you! hehe) optimo (espacio) is a hugely successful club night in glasgow started back in november 1997 and every now and again JD twitch, JG wilkes and lady miss roland make the best of mixes that you should hunt down and listen to. everyone will remember the jence remix of the presets' latest release talk like that but its the optimo guys for me who've once again reached up and taken from the top drawer! good times. mp3 128kbs.

DL:
the presets - talk like that (an optimo (espacio) mix) [mediafire]

la quatrième raison for smiling are lovely chords. if it wasn't for gabby heinze and his heroic slide tackle on fernando morientes, these guys would be my favourite argentinians ever since they released we push up on frenchies. and they make my reasoning even more difficult when they send stuff to my mailbox. namely this cover of the late laura brannigan which they describe as a tune in the thin line between chaos and beautiness. philtre records also sent me the promo of mr brown's EP we dance for money which features lovely chords and is out now on kompakt. both tracks are crazy. youve been warned!

...and for the fifth? it's good for you :)

see you in five days!

The Chemical Brothers Are Doing It Again

No matter whom you are or what you do, first impressions are everything. With that, I would like to introduce myself as marky! One of the team :)

My place of residence is Newcastle, Ireland. Even though I live in Northern Ireland (which is seen to be a completely different country due to its separate governments and currency with a bit of bla bla bla, politics and some more bla bla bla), in my mind, boards mean nothing and that’s what everyone loves about music - for it's always expanding, changing, and enticing you into all kinds of exciting genres.

Such artists that have met this status are the Chemical Brothers. With their Electronica / Psychedelic / Alternative, sounds that have affected and been heard my many ears around the world of different ages. The Chemical Brothers are once again going to help us relive all these moments when they release 'Brotherhood' on September 1st. ‘Galvanize’, ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’, ‘Do It Again’ and ‘Saturate’ which has been over played in every club night shall all feature on the new album.

DL:

The Chemical Brothers - Saturate [zshare]

In fairness, I have not given these songs much listen in the past few months, but I do not think I want to listen to them just yet....

When hearing a song once again for the first time in a long while you always find yourself remembering the moments you first heard the tracks being spun. Looking back myself, each song gives me flash backs for different moments over the past years (clearly all happy, as I am a ‘happy chappy'). When then album is released, then I shall give all these tracks that deep listen and allow it to take me back to them stages, making me love the songs even more.

'Brotherhood' is an album made up of 2 discs. The first disc shall have 13 songs from the Chemical Brothers back catalogue and one other new track ‘Keep My Composure’ that shall feature, Spank Rock. Disco 2 will feature exclusively ‘Electronic Battle Weapons’ 1-10, consisting of the teams most memorable and formidable mixes for the first time as one collection

The Chemical Brothers are staging the release of ‘Midnight Madness’ as their first single off the new album ‘Brotherhood’. Not only is this song strong to the point it’s a certain for the top 10 charts (replacing the likes of Ne-Yo, Chris Brown.........and some boy called IRONIK) but will also be a club favourite, taking the place of ‘Saturation’ which we have fallen in love with over the past year on our nights out and mixtapes. The song is also a feature in the Chemical Brothers live sets and will be one to remember when you are on your way home (in high competition with the clown telling us all to get high throughout the show).

DL:

The Chemical Brothers - Midnight Madness [zshare]

The Chemical Brothers - Keep My Composure (feat. Spank Rock) [zshare]

The video for ‘Midnight Madness’ is also one to be very proud of and just as spectacular as the Chemical Brother live show. The aerobatic stunts by a B-boy/ germinal like creature, bounding itself from walls and off cars in the strangely empty streets of New York......somewhat like a scene out of Rush Hour II

Treasure Fingers!

Hello there Funkersss :) I'm Hickey. Pabs introduced me yesterday (thank you pabs) and now Im here to stay.

Ive been a fan of Treasure Fingers ever since hearing Cross The Dancefloor (which is finally released next week through Fools Gold! And i mean FINALLY). Treasure Fingers opened my tastes to anything 'danceable' rather than delete everything i download that isn't a banger. Treasure recently came off a tour with another favourite of mine KILL THE NOISE. The tour was deemed the "Schools Out Forever" tour and i'd have sold my soul to be able to attend one of the shows. Alas, Australia and its remoteness gets in the way.

Anyway ! After a bit of downtime with new material Treasure Fingers just posted up a new remix on his myspace that he did for Big Gipp (Scion Records..same label LA RIOTS did that mix for a while ago..that i havent actually heard yet).

The track is called HOT and it god damn IS. I thought it was an original track at first which delighted me to no end. Still, its one hell of a tune.

Go listen to it

DL:
