pic: pix gremlini'll introduce myself, i'm don. now to the music -
most of the music us funkers listen to today has been, in one way or another, influenced by music older than the boxers i'm currently wearing. here's a few tracks from long long ago that will undoubtedly get you moving on the dancefloor.
we'll start off with possibily the greatest funk track of all time? when funkism dies, this will be played at our funeral. released in 1978 (2 years before the first person who wore my boxers purcahsed these tight, off-white beauties) the song has been on countless funk compilations as well as greatest songs of all time countdowns.

flashlight[zShare]next up a track by the fabolous chaka khan, sometimes refered to as "the queen of funk soul" and with good reason. her music has been sampled by acts such as kanye west (through the wire) and more close to home stardust (music sounds better with you) the track here however is lesser known but just as good, it has indeed also been sampled, by onephatdeeva on the track "bad habit"

i know you, i live you [zShare]this next track is an infusion of funk and disco, you'd need to be either frozen completely or very dead to avoid movement when this song busts out of your stairy-airy-o. i dare you not to sing along as well.
commodores -
brick house [zShare]now onto a track that would still be rather unkown if it wasn't for 2 french guys sampling it to make possibilty the funkiest tune from their debut album. 3 guesses. the brothers johnson have been making music to wiggle to since 1975.

you make me wanna wigglethis song isn't very old at all, i'm not exactly sure when it was made or released all i know is that it's been crafted by a fantastic producer and dj - the late j dilla. i also know that although a great track within its own right, with some magic this track could definately form an integral part of a dancefloor killer.

also pabs has recently finished funkism's very own muxtape! we wanted something that you could come back and listen to in a few months and still enjoy it as much as you did first listen! so we've excluded alot of great tracks that we feel will soon be overplayed. I think pabs described it perfectly when he said this
"it's a plethora of paradoxes. a mix of old and new. slow burners laced with killers. emotive and a sprinkle of funk."
