copenhagen fun
Hi Everyone! You've probably heard of Silas & Jonas aka Kenton Slash Demon, two cool guys from Denmark signed on Tartelet Records (which is also a dope label). Their track 'Khattabi' was playlisted on Brodinski's Bugged Out (btw the EP is available on Beatport). Their new "Sun" is a little bomb, going from Groovy- Disco notes to minimalistic touches. Everything is on Beatport guys.

They also made us the great pleasure to record a Funkism December Mix, enjoy!

DL:

Tracklist :
John Talabot - Naomi
Kenton Slash Demon - Sun
Matthias Mayer - Infinity
Joris Delacroix - Calin Cale (Rodriguez Jr. Remix)
Holden - A Break in The Clouds (Main Mix)
X-Press 2 - Say What (Yousef Circus Rework)
The MFA - The Differences It Makes (Superpitcher Mix)
Martinez - My Anthem
Mike 5 - Mike

no questions asked
It's always torture trying to uncover a mystery- particularly if the answer just lies around the corner. In fact we're due a good challenge to test our detective capabilities after the Gucci Vump saga turned out to be the world's worst kept secret. Ohh Brodi you're a sneaky one. Well to be quite frank, I'm far too impatient to be waiting around for answers. Fuck January 2010, why wait over a month when one of you cruel buggers can let slip to me now. Ahem. So who are Monarchy people? We know they're a duo right? Could one of them be the ever so slick Starsmith? Or possibly one of the Late of the Pier boys (Samuel Dust?) working on one of those said individual projects? What a tease eh?

DL:
Monarchy - Black The Colour Of My Heart [M]
Monarchy - Black The Colour Of My Heart [Y]

DL:
Penguin Prison - A Funny Thing (Monarchy Remix) [M]
Penguin Prison - A Funny Thing (Monarchy Remix) [Y]

They'll remain anonymous until January when they release their first single under Neon Gold Records- who previously nursed the likes of Passion Pit and Ellie Goulding onto greater things. Let's hope for a similar future.

second glance
The young duo Dem Slackers have just finished off their latest remix. We blogged about them back in May when they sent us their Mightyfools remix of Amsterdam, shit got big then. No long after that their Joker EP got released on Wearhouse Music with some even bigger remixes. Drawing resemblances to the likes of Congorock, Raffertie and A1 Bassline you would expect wobbles from the next track.

This latest remix sees the Dem Slackers team in a different light, making the euphoric Calvin Harris track more presentable to most readers of this blog. Dem Slacks have come together, stripping away the spice boys and the fake tan almost. But of course keeping in them girls that wear the small hot pants and tops that only just cover their nips.

DL:
Calvin Harris - Flashback (Dem Slackers Remix) [M]
Calvin Harris - Flashback (Dem Slackers Remix) [Y]

stick up for yourself
Has anyone seen the previews for Yeasayer's "Ambling Alp" video yet? Let me explain. First of all- everybody is naked. Yes you read right, they're all starkers. Not even a leaf. Okay so after the initial shock of the nudity we're greeted by some LSD driven illusions of these people running about on a desert. Absolutely no idea where but it looks like it's killing their feet. They're still naked at this point, so it's not pretty when they're busy power-walking through the dust. Hmm. But it ends with everybody sleeping on silver sheets. Are they all oiled up for a massive orgy? It looks quite likely. Although, aside from all this enigma, the song is actually pretty damn good. Perhaps not quite as thrilling as the blatant cult sexathon on show, but twinned with the Memory Tapes remix, I think the single has enough hoohaa to kick that eerie mojo of yours into action. Yikes.

DL:
Yeasayer - Ambling Alp (Memory Tapes Remix) [Z]
Yeasayer - Ambling Alp (Memory Tapes Remix) [Y]

Don't forget you can get a hold of their debut albums now. Both good listens, in particular Memory Tapes' which is nothing short of special.

smoke and mirrors
This is for everybody awake at half past seven on a Sunday morning who fit under the following adjectives: tired, hungry, achey and grumpy. Sat there depleted with a cup of coffee barely able to listen to the news. Ask yourself why you're in such a state? Is it... because of work? You were disturbed? You're just one of those crazy people who get up at ohh good lord the birds aren't even awake yet o' clock. If that's the case then you suck. Big time. If it's because you've had one hell of a Saturday night then high fives all round tits magees- this In Flagranti remix was made for you. It's a cheeky little pick me up to keep you going until you hit the sack. Works better than caffeine. Scientifically proven.

DL:
Ali Love - Smoke And Mirrors (In Flagranti Remix) [Z]
Ali Love - Smoke And Mirrors (In Flagranti Remix) [Y]

So things are looking bright for Ali Love, appearing on Aeroplane's October Chart, and for more disco madness you can grab a whole host of filthy In Flagranti remixes HERE. Thanks Codek.

pull and then up
Looks likes Pabs wants a battle? Well let start off with that song being well old now, but Funkism isn't always about new music it also about what has been missed. But to fight this battle I'm going to open up my Jon Curtis tool box. His debut production is Driven, has a hard go chasing sound throughout. The more it goes on the stronger it gets as if it has found confidence.

DL:
Jon Curtis - Driven [M]
Jon Curtis - Driven [S]

Then we have Get Bang, its like my drill with sharp metal edges and flash strobe lights. Another driven bassline track with lots of loopings and glitches. Beast of a power drill I know.

DL:
Jon Curtis - Get Bang [Y]
Jon Curtis - Get Bang [S]

Mr Curtis has also pasted us on his latest track and wants to know the funkers feelings of it. I'm getting Major Lazer vibes with a bit of A1 Bassline - Bad Man Horror Theme running along side. But that's just me...

DL:
Jon Curtis - Pull Up [Y]
Jon Curtis - Pull Up [S]

If you go through and download each of these you will hear the sound of progress, a key component of any producer. With night residences at varies locations and big support slot already under him, that sound of progress can only get sweet. P.S. for some reason hosting sites are being a bell for me sorry darlings.

i spy... something beginning with W

Sorry Mark but you got the wrong 'W' teehee. Wale (Wah-lay) kills it with his joints on Attention Deficit. Anything that rips The Hills and sneaks in 'pretentious' simultaneously is nothing short of awesome in my books.

I heard a rough live version of this track a few weeks ago and now we have the full video. Wiley is back to his roots and where he is at best. Yeah Wearing my Rolex was a big money making track with lots of remixes, but this his new track Take That- a whole new level and it's BIG!

would it be right now
Can I really do two post in the same week on the same artist? Of course I can when there is other party involved, this time I have Diplo as an excuse. The Devils Eye remix is running alongside Bacardi B - Live Events that happen around the world each year. We have the likes of A-Trak, MSTRKRFT and Para One involved in this years events in over 25 different countries, serious biz. Diplo is also involved in the B- Live proceedings with Major Lazer, working along side Drop The Lime, it was only a matter of time before Diplo asked if he could put his own gritty shaker on the track. Devil's Eyes is the latest single.

DL:
Drop The Lime - Devil's Eyes (Diplo's B-Live Mix) [M]
Drop The Lime - Devil's Eyes (Diplo's B-Live Mix) [Y]

Thing is though, this is a live mix and really shows the brilliance of Diplo. You are able grab the Major Lazer sounds within the remix which are pasted between the Luca Venezia vocals. Head over to our blog bros Stoney Roads for some more remixes of the track. To show their support and joy for the release, xlr8.com are running a contest to get Drop the Lime to to in your hood, check it.
