without you

Not being funny but I'm choking on this monster track by Kenny Glasgow and Johnny White. Heimlich manoeuver anyone? The Art Department album is scheduled for release on Crosstown Rebels January 2011.

hybrid life
Aka Miss Fitz. If you like your techno slow, trippy with a side order of face-punching brilliance then Mayaan Nidam is your answer. That is, if your question to begin with was loosely based around the idea of creating world peace, since we'd be so stuck into the groove to even care about all those annoying people who review restaurants on Yelp. Or even Harmony Korine's legitimacy. That said, if you're going to kick a fuss over something today, let it be over this. Tell the world of its face-punching brilliance, tell the world.

Omar-YES! Robert Hood, Jamie Jones, Mizrahi, Troxler, Mark E, Chris Carrier and Larry Heard. What more could you want? This is a new mix from Thick As Thieves, two guys from South East London who endeavour to play the kind of house music that's inherent in our bones, and if those aforementioned names don't get you excited then, well, you're no fun.

Mix:

They're playing White Nights with Dinky et al in Berlin. Woooaah.

rouge à lèvres
This might be a bit overdue, but I'd like to introduce the works of Ethyl and Flori, whom sound like a floral classification. While they have independent projects, when they work together it's one crazy martini cocktail spell. Cherry glossed and magically danceable are the tracks off their Paisley Riffs EP which was released in the blossoming time of May 26th under the Quintessentials label. Streaming is Ethyl's "Those Eyes" but click here for a small preview of their collaborative tracks "Malmö" and Floris "Lenox Ave."

KRY-LON, sounds like a fancy colored marker set that you find in the artsiest of stores. Close, but not true, it is the project of two very young Tijuana based musicians (17). For a duration of 4 years Gerardo Cedillo, and Ricardo Mejía have been producing and Djing, at such young age, could we possibly be witnessing the coming of the next Nicolas Jaar in Valentina hot sauce, served with a chilled Corona and lime? Here is a preview for their song Vamonos al Monte, which means let's go to the mountainside.

dancing in the balearics
Polar opposite to the previous post, comes, Picture House's remix of Crystal Fighter's In The Summer, named rightfully as Summer in The Balearic's Remix. I like the warmth and grace of this remix, find it more inviting to sing along in those camp fire nights playing in the sand with friends. In the summer, summer, so come on, come on! Enjoy with sunscreen.

Darkening the skies comes the works of Acephele Record's SALEM, along with what makes These New Puritans see like falling angels. SALEM remixes These New Puritans "Hologram" traveling the song poised to the unearthing depths of a dungeon. The deep vocals of SALEM give it the celtic hip behavior, while lost souls are echoing in the background. What a bliss to exist.

one night
It's easy to presume that this band consists of beefcake brodies producing beefcake rock. Rather like this guy. Instead we get three Glaswegians who've founded American Men in order to make complex math rock to accompany life's epiphanies. Like the "aaahh moment" that cropped up when you were just sorting some bits in the garage and thought "Hey I've got to stop posing with this sword otherwise I'll look like a douche." Doodedoodeoodoo. Hair chopped, jeans swapped, and soforth.

Out now on LuckyMe. Remixes from FaltyDL, Ikonika & Optimum, Machinedrum and Hudson Mohawke.
